“Health pass” could be treated this month

"Health pass" could be treated this month

Hugo Ramírez, national deputy for the ANR, announced that he will present his bill that proposes the use of the health pass for massive events and entry into the country on February 16. This, regardless of whether or not the Ministry of Health has sent the report detailing its position on the initiative.

It should be remembered that on January 10, the Permanent Commission of Congress was supposed to deal with the document. However, Hugo Ramírez, deputy and idealist of the project, decided to withdraw it on the recommendation of his colleagues until he had a position from the Ministry of Health on the point.

Almost a month after the announcement, the health portfolio has still not been issued, so Ramírez decided to wait two more weeks and then present the project, regardless of the position of the health portfolio.

“The project remains firm. I believe that it is the most important tool that we can provide the Ministry of Health to be able to combat the pandemic more effectively,” he said.

Regarding the positions of his colleagues on the subject, he expressed that he saw divided positions. However, he is confident that there will be the votes for its approval.

DOUBTS
The legislator questioned that Health is hesitant about supporting or not the “health pass”. He stated that the ministry is waiting for Parliament to make a decision.

“Because of the knowledge they have, they know well that this is the path to take. It is a useful tool. I am sure that in a few years the importance of this will be understood. It is something that has to be done so that the people do not have so many pressures, both in health and in the economy, ”he said.

REPORT
The legislator will also request a report from Immigration on the number of foreigners expelled for not having the vaccination card. It should be remembered that since January 12 the national health protocol establishes that the unvaccinated cannot enter the country.

The bill indicates that people who are part of the age group of the Ministry of Health, and who want to participate in massive events, must have the complete vaccination schedule. The last dose should be applied 14 days before the celebration of the event.

In case of not complying, the organizers of the events are exposed to fines of up to 500 minimum wages (G. 44 million).

DISAGREEMENT
One of the groups that was openly against this bill was “Honor Colorado.” Several of its legislators questioned that the initiative is unconstitutional for restricting guaranteed freedoms. For this reason, the votes of the multibancada will play a key role in the approval or rejection of the law.
