With a deployment of more than 11 thousand people from the three levels of governmentIn addition to the Police, the Armed Forces, professional entities such as the Bolivian College of Engineers, technical health personnel and others, this Sunday the ‘Great Minga United All Against Dengue’, in all districts of the Santa Cruz capital.
Regarding the activity, the Minister of Health, Jeyzon Auza, said that 80 percent of the containment of this disease focuses on reservoir removal activitiesand that the remaining 20 percent should be directed towards fumigation and other types of biolarvicide application actions.
Auza pointed out that there is certainty that there will be expected results after this mobilization, but that it is important that this action be sustained, especially because “the rains make it difficult to control this disease“, by modifying the number of reservoirs.
He gave as an example that a couple of weeks ago another minga was carried out, but on a smaller scale, and with a display of five thousand people.
He asked the population to open your doors to the brigadesand explained that a mosquito is a threat, because it can produce 200 eggs every four days and lives between four and six weeks, “so the number of eggs that may be accumulating in these reservoirs is immense and produce a large number of new aedes vectors that can transmit this disease,” he said.
The authority indicated that when the fever passes, the symptoms may disappear, but from there move to a resolution stage or a critical stage. “There is no longer a classification of dengue hemorrhagic, severe hemorrhagic, or classic, but we are talking about dengue with alarm signs, without alarm signs, and a serious one,” he reported.
He assured that both the diagnosis and the complete treatment of dengue are free in all public health centers and recommended that the population not self-medicate, go to health centers, stay hydrated and avoid ibuprofen.
Finally, he valued the joint work, which involved the three levels of Government.
