The Ministry of Health confirmed this Sunday that a heart donor has been found for the 6-year-old girl Dahiara, who is connected to a ventricular assist device.
Nahiara was diagnosed with dilated restrictive cardiomyopathy, heart failure, and autoimmune thyroiditis. Since June 11, she has been in therapy at the “Niños de Acosta Ñu” Pediatric Hospital.
In the same place, the operation was performed on July 6 to connect her to a ventricular assist device, which helps pump blood, while waiting for a heart donor.
This Sunday morning, organ donation was confirmed thanks to “the solidarity gesture of a family, which at such a difficult time has made the noble decision to help patients waiting for a transplant,” the Ministry thanked in its accounts. social networks.
Heart donation is possible in patients who are clinically dead but remain on life support.
The transplant procedure will be led by Dr. Marcos Melgarejo and his entire heart transplant team, from the “Niños de Acosta Ñu” Pediatric General Hospital.
