The head of the epidemiology department of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), Lourdes Moreno, reiterated to the population the use of the mask, before the arrival in the country of the omicron variant.

He made it clear that the use of it is maintained, especially for these end-of-year holidays, since the biosecurity measures established by the health authorities cannot be relaxed.

Dr. Moreno highlighted the importance of hand washing, the face mask in the area of ​​public transport, restaurants and added that it is important to avoid crowds.

He called on all people who have not yet had their dose against Covid-19 to come to apply it and protect themselves from the virus

“There are doses of vaccines for all Panamanians who have not yet decided to get vaccinated,” said Moreno.

For his part, Juan Miguel Pascale, director of the Gorgas Memorial Institute for Health Studies (ICGES), pointed out that this variant will displace the Delta and did not rule out that more cases will occur in the country in the coming days.
