Health authorities ask not to link the LGBTTTIQ+ community with monkeypox

The Ministry of Health, the IMSS and the ISSSTE, assure that the opinions that have been disclosed regarding the disease known colloquially as monkeypox only homosexual people or the gay community suffer, have no basis.

“Opinions without scientific support, with a stigmatizing and discriminatory vision, prevent or seek to limit public health interventions based on scientific evidence, and hinder research on the current outbreak of the virus that, according to data published by the World Health Organization Health (WHO), already affects 29 countries”.

“In the same way, it is essential and very necessary to emphasize that the virus can affect all people regardless of their sexual expression and gender identity,” is read in the text.
