Health announces the next application of a fourth anti-COVID dose

Hoy Paraguay

For the next week, the vaccination schedule is maintained with the application of first, second and third doses. From the Ministry of Health they announced that the application of a second booster dose will also begin soon.

During the press conference held this Friday, Dr. Héctor Castro, director of the Expanded Immunization Program (PAI), announced how the National Vaccination Plan against COVID-19 will continue.

Vaccination will be extended from Monday, March 7 to Friday, March 11 in all vaccination centers distributed nationwide.

The application of the first doses will be directed to children from 5 to 11 years of age with Pfizer Pediatric or Coronavac, as well as adolescents from 12 to 17 years of age and people from 18 years of age and older. Likewise, pregnant women with 12 weeks of gestation onwards are included.

As for the second doses, all those who have complied with the interval established for each platform are invited:

* Pfizer – 3 weeks
* Astrazeneca – 4 weeks
* Modern – 4 weeks
* Sputnik V – 4 weeks
* Coronavac – 4 weeks
* Sinopharm – 4 weeks

One detail to note is that people who received a first dose of Moderna will receive Pfizer as a second dose, while those who received Sputnik will receive Pfizer or Astrazeneca as a second dose.

Castro confirmed that the application of second doses has also begun in the group of children aged 5 to 11 years, so parents must take into account the interval to attend vaccinations (4 weeks for Coronavac and 8 weeks for Pfizer). ).

As for the third dose, the minimum interval of four months is maintained for those who wish to receive the booster dose, which allows for greater immunity against COVID-19.

The head of the PAI announced that the second booster dose (fourth dose) will soon be enabled, which will be aimed at people 50 years of age or older, health personnel highly exposed to patient care and immunocompromised or immunosuppressed people, 12 years of age onwards.

The criterion that will be taken into account is having completed the interval of 6 months from the application of the third dose, either in our country or abroad.
