In his right hand, Guaicaipuro has a combat mallet with which he blew out the head and teeth of the Spanish Empire. And the Great Cacica Urquía has raised in her right hand the red plume that dignifies the Great Cacique Guaicaipuro chiefs of chiefs,” said the national leader, thousands of indigenous people who filled the streets of Caracas.
Likewise, he highlighted that this work was made by the artist Jesús Manuel Suescún, in addition to highlighting that it will be on the Gran Cacique Guaicaipuro highway, which was formerly known as the name of “one of the murderers and genocidaires of the original indigenous peoples, it was called the Francisco Fajardo highway.”
Venezuela reaffirms its commitment to the memory of its ancestors
President Maduro recalled the strength of the indigenous people and reaffirmed his commitment to the memory of the ancestors, who today more than ever are present in the fight for national sovereignty.
“We are doing justice and I feel happy because if Christopher Columbus and European supremacy are rescued in the genocidal north, we, in justice, rescue the rebellious independence legacy and resistance of the American Indian peoples,” he stated.
Guaicaipuro transcended distances in defense of freedom
Likewise, he highlighted the greatness of Guaicaipuro, who overcame the barriers of languages and distances to unite the native peoples to combat the Spanish empire.
«Guaicaipuro with Urquía at his side and his son the Great Chief Baruta, they traveled on foot, from Los Teques to Caricuao, from Los Teques to La Guaira, from Los Teques to Petare, from Los Teques to Catia. Although all the peoples had different languages, similar but different, our Great Chief Guaicaipuro managed to unite in a single spirit, in a single feeling all the peoples attacked by the Spanish people to fight the Spanish empire for 100 years,” he stated.
