Liberal senator Blas Llano assured that in order to achieve a true consensus in the face of the 2023 general elections, there must be openness and a dialogue with the different sectors of the opposition. He accused the head of the PLRA, Efraín Alegre, of putting his personal interests first.
In an interview with the Fuego Cruzado program broadcast by GEN-Nación Media, Llano analyzed the political project for 2023 and highlighted the importance of proposing an agreement with different sectors in order to reach the presidential elections.
In this sense, he highlighted the importance of building a political, social and citizen project, generating trust between the different political actors, for which openness is needed, putting the interests of the country and the project that one says they want to carry out.
On this point, he accused the current president of the Liberal Party, Efraín Alegre, of not having enough openness to dialogue with other referents, since he prioritizes his candidacy for the presidency of the Republic and puts his personal interests before the party and the opposition itself. .
“When you go to the table of opposition presidents, do you go as president of the Liberals or do you go as a candidate from an internal sector?” Llano questioned.
He recalled that the head of the PLRA has already been defeated in two elections, for which he classified him as “a loser.” An alternative cannot be built because the president of the main opposition party does not fulfill his role of being an articulator, he said.
“Today there are several options, there is no single leadership, so we have to find a mechanism to have a single badge that can combine the interests of all sectors. You can have a good badge but if you don’t have a good proposal for citizenship then it’s empty”, said the liberal senator.
Llano assured that “there are people who are not willing to give up their candidacy” such as Efraín Alegre, who talks about the concertation out of the blue but shows signs of not wanting to engage in a sincere dialogue. “You have to talk and build.”
In order to achieve a true agreement for 2023, there is also talk of resignations, so a candidate should be willing to give up his place if there is another more viable option, at his discretion.
“Whoever puts his personal interests before the interests of the nation and as a consequence of that the opposition is divided, is responsible for the political suicide of the opposition,” Llano emphasized.
Finally, he indicated that, in the event of victory, the concertation should not end with the elections but should continue during the following years of government.
