Commissioner César Lara, director of the Caaguazú Police, told Radio Ñanduti that thanks to the joint work between personnel from the Cybercrime Directorate and the Investigation Department, the defendant was arrested yesterday.

This is Pedro Juan Penayo Mereles, 24, who, according to reports, had made threats against different educational institutions in the Caaguazú area.

“What he said is that there was going to be a massacre today. It must not be taken as a joke, it must be taken very seriously, ”said the police chief.

In his possession, three cell phones and two notebooks that were owned by his brothers were seized, according to the police report.

The threats had been made through Facebook and, thanks to the work of Cybercrime personnel, the accounts from which they were made could be identified, Lara said.

The detainee was placed at the disposal of justice, leaving the case in the hands of the prosecutor Norma Solís.
