He killed his partner with a hammer, now he faces charges of femicide

A 61-year-old man faces charges for the crime of femicide, after having killed his partner, a 60-year-old woman.

The events were recorded last on September 9, 2022, at the residence of the deceased located in the Vista Mar neighborhood, in the district of La Chorrera, when the accused attacked his partner with a hammer and also caused several stab wounds to a minor (granddaughter of the deceased, who tried to defend her) with scissors, hammer, knife and other blunt objects, also tried to suffocate her by placing a cartridge in her head.

The woman was taken to the hospital and after spending several days fighting for her life, she died yesterday, September 21, for which the Homicide and Femicide Section of the West Panama Regional Prosecutor’s Office will request a hearing for charges against the aggressor.

In a hearing of multiple requests, held last Sunday, September 11, 2022, the Homicide and Femicide Section had already achieved the legalization of the arrest, the formulation of charges and the precautionary measure of provisional detention of this man for attempted femicide. to the detriment of the lady and a minor under 12 years of age.

After the bloodshed, forensic psychologist Lesbia González said that Panama requires more prevention in cases of domestic violence and that when people need help, they do not hesitate to seek it, be it emotional or psychological.
