SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico.- Dariannis Hardy Rodríguez, mother of a 15-year-old teenager with a chronic and irreversible illness, asks for help to obtain a humanitarian visa to save the life of his son, who requires a lung transplant, an operation that is not performed in Cuba.
In conversation with CubaNetAlain’s mother revealed that since he was born, his son’s lung maturation stopped. “Generally these patients “They are not more than a year old, so Alain’s vitality is forced.”
Alain’s status gets worsesaid his mother, adding that the doctors have explained to him that generally these lung diseases are irreversible because the organ deteriorates until it stops working.
Although he had initially been diagnosed with Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia at birth, this was ruled out 15 years later, amid the severity of his evolution.
In a publication in the Facebook group “Ministerio de Ayuda Dios es Amor”, he also shared that in the last six months the child’s respiratory condition worsened and in coordination with the PAMI in Guantánamo they took him to Havana.
There, at the National Legal Institute of Neomology, they determined that Alain has severe pulmonary obstruction, and the only possible procedure to save his life is a lung transplant. However, as they explained to Dariannis, the operation is not carried out in Cuba.
“So far he is the only one in Cuba with this condition. After so many months in the hospital, it was determined to keep the child on oxygen at home until God willing,” he conveyed.
The mother, desperate, and without having yet communicated the medical opinion to her son, asks for a humanitarian visa that could offer him hope of life. Even if I were compatible with him, I would donate a lung so that Alain could be saved.
“To all those people who in one way or another identify with the unconditional love of a child, please, I beg for humanitarian visa help for Alain, who is just beginning to live,” he wrote.
The mother left the telephone number +53 5 9499535 to contact her in case of having any information about the countries where a procedure of this type could be performed on Alain.
When the options are non-existent in Cuba, which is going through an unfortunate health and health crisis, Cuban mothers and fathers desperately cry out for help to obtain humanitarian visas for other countries where their children can be cured.
Such was the case of the little girl Amanda Lemus Ortizwho after obtaining a humanitarian visa, was able to undergo a liver transplant in Spain.
Amanda underwent surgery two months after birth in the hope of prolonging her life, but was still waiting for a life-saving transplant a year later.
Until her departure from Cuba, Amanda’s mother denounced the inaction of the Cuban authorities, describing her situation as a “crime” that endangered the life of her baby.
