They evaluate possible damage to the Nevado de Toluca
One day after the illegal entry, on January 19, 2026, Profepa inspectors returned to the Nevado de Toluca area to review in the field the environmental damage that could have been caused the Razer type vehicle.
The inspection was carried out in coordination with the Ministerial Police and the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (Conanp) and is part of the process opened before the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic.
Profepa reported that it will promptly follow up on the case and comply with all the requirements of the FGR, with the aim of determining the legal situation of the driver in accordance with environmental law.
This case sets a precedent: it is the first time that environmental and security authorities in the State of Mexico have achieved the arrest of a person for entering a protected area of the Nevado de Toluca with a recreational vehicle.
