During the guarantee control hearing held between Sunday and Monday, the Prosecutor’s Office made charges for aggravated homicide, because the victim was a child under 14, which in the Colombian Criminal Code can lead to penalties between 33 and 50 years in prison. Despite the severity of the imputation, Torres declared himself innocent and his defense announced that he will appeal to imputability, claiming that the defendant was not aware of his acts for an alleged affectation in his mental health.
In a statement registered by medical personnel at the clinic where it was admitted after the attempt of suicide, Torres would have stated: «I managed, I filled with anger, I went to the kitchen for a knife, I hurt my daughter and wanted to die. I know they hate me for what I did. The Prosecutor’s Office highlighted this testimony as part of the indications that support his accusation, although his defense insists that it is a young woman with possible non -diagnosed mental disorders.
A 3 -year -old girl was stabbed by her own mother in Manizales. It happened yesterday, but today almost nobody talks about her. It is not a trend, there are no marches, there are no feminist voices against a crime made by a woman, there they do not go out to break and protest.

The case has caused shock in Manizales and throughout the country. Neighbors of the residential complex where the crime occurred reported that hours before the event were heard screams and crying, but never imagined that it would end in a tragedy of such magnitude. The authorities deployed an interdisciplinary team to address the case, while the community has made calls for respect for the memory of the child.
Antonella’s paternal family, deeply affected, publicly requested that speculation and dissemination of crime images are avoided, which have circulated on social networks. Through a statement, they expressed their pain and insisted that the judicial process progresses with speed, but with the respect that the girl’s memory deserves.
For now, Silvana Torres remains in custody of the authorities, and the Prosecutor’s Office requested assurance measure while the process progresses. The country follows the development of this case that has reopened the debate on mental health, young maternity, and the need for emotional and psychological support systems to avoid tragedies like this.
