SLP, Mexico.- Havana is the tourist city with the Internet slower, according to a report published by Helloflyonline services company.
The capital of Cuba was in last place in the classificationwith a download speed of 4.5 Mbps. With this record it was positioned far from other Latin American cities such as Caracas, Venezuela (16.3 Mbps) or Lima, in Peru (20.3 Mbps).

For measurement, Holafly relies on Speedtest, a platform that measures internet speed in each country. Holafly also resorted to rankings established by pages such as Booking and TripAdvisor in their classification of the most visited cities by geographical area.
Seven of the ten tourist cities with the slowest internet speeds are in Latin America, according to Holafly.
The slowest, the Cuban capital, is “significantly slower than the others,” and with the speed that a user has it would take almost four minutes to download a 1 GB map.
At the opposite extreme, Doha, Qatar, tops the list with a speed of 354.5 Mbps, allowing you to download a 1 GB map in just 1.9 seconds. Los Angeles, for its part, is positioned as the fastest city, with 186.6 Mbps, achieving the same task in 5.5 seconds.
Cuba, slow and censored internet
The Cuban group Diktyonwhich monitors the internet situation on the Island, in its fifth reportcorresponding to the second quarter of 2024, reported that in April 2024, the situation of internet speed in Cubaboth in mobile and fixed broadband, remained critical compared to other countries.
According to Ookla’s Global Speedtest Index, Cuba continued in the lowest position in both categories, the Diktyon report indicated.
Regarding the internet service through mobile data, the researchers reported an average download speed of 4.15 Mbps and an upload speed of 4.12 Mbps. This performance places Cuba in last place worldwide (the Island occupies ranked 144th out of 144 countries evaluated).
As for fixed broadband, the situation is equally unfavorable. The country remained in last place, number 181, with an average download speed of 2.95 Mbps and an upload speed of just 0.96 Mbps.
However, Cubans may experience even lower internet speeds, as these numbers represent the median of reports uploaded from Cuba to the Ookla platform.
