Havana: International Transport Fair will be held at the end of September

Madrid Spain.- The FITL 2022 International Transport and Logistics Fair will take place in Havana from September 27 to 29.

According to the Cuban Ministry of Transport (MITRANS), the event “will be ideal for the consolidation of existing projects or negotiation, as well as for the identification of new business opportunities in the different branches of transport.”

“An essential line of FITL2022 will be the production of parts, pieces and aggregates. The productive exchange between producers and clients in this sense, will contribute to sustaining the means that the sector has today in our country, MITRANS added in a statement shared on its website.

National and international actors from the sector will participate in the meeting and, according to official media, it is intended to “invigorate the sustainable development of transport and logistics in Cuba, based on a better service and a successful performance of the economy.” In addition, attempts will be made to promote foreign investment and international cooperation.

During the fair, topics related to the sustainable mobility of passengers and cargo will be addressed; the modernization of means of transport and infrastructures; the repair and manufacture of spare parts and aggregates; among other.

The transportation crisis is one of the many ills that have affected Cubans for decades. Last June, the Cuban authorities reported that only 40% of the urban buses in Havana were providing services.

Already in April, the First Deputy Minister of Transportation, Marta Oramas Rivero, had indicated that the capital was going through the worst crisis in public transport services in the last decade, and that the Provincial Transport Company of Havana, the main operator, kept in operation only 442 vehicles that transported more than 580,000 people daily, a figure that is far from the 780 scheduled buses three years ago, with a 20% reserve.”
