The next Havana International Book Fairthe largest literary event in Cuba, will market 4.2 million printed books and dozens of digital texts, according to what its organizers reported this Wednesday.
The offer contemplates 4,200 titles and a number of digital texts that would be over 1,200, as part of a strategy launched five years ago, the president of the Cuban Book Institute (ICL), Juan Rodríguez, specified at a press conference.
The event, which will be held from February 9 to 19, 2023 in its Havana stage and will tour the other provinces of the country and the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud until March 19, will have Colombia as the guest of honor.
“It is an excellent opportunity to strengthen the ties of friendship that already exist between the two countries and that have been built by men and women of the arts and culture such as our great writer Gabriel García Márquez,” said the Colombian ambassador in Havana, José Noé. Rivers.
The previous edition was dedicated to Mexicowhich brought a large delegation and a message from President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who shortly after made an official visit to the Island.
The head of the state ICL stated that the Fair has been conceived as a “plural, interdisciplinary and inclusive” activity, in which “culture, language, countries and formats are related in pursuit of a book industry for all audiences”.
The general program includes presentations of various artistic manifestations, exhibitions, publishing launches, concerts, colloquiums, among others.

The tributes will be dedicated to the centenaries of the poet Fina García Marruz (1923-2022), the scientist Antonio Núñez Jiménez (1923-1998), the bibliographer Araceli García Carranza, and the writer Julio Travieso Serrano, National Literature Award 2021.
