Harfuch: mayor of Chilpancingo went alone to a meeting and did not request security

The security secretary explained that they have information regarding who the mayor of Chilpancingo would meet, but said that he could not disseminate it while the investigation, led by the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Guerrero, continues.

“He was alone, he was not accompanied, and we know that he was going to a specific meeting. There is a lot of information about it, which we have to take care of for the investigation itself,” he reiterated.

However, according to the newspaper ReformDays before the murder, Alejandro Arcos met without surveillance with the criminal group “Los Ardillos”, accused of drug trafficking and extortion in Guerrero.

The newspaper cites confidential sources from the federal government who mention a possible “difference” between the mayor of Chilpancingo and the leaders of “Los Ardillos” as the motive for the murder.

García Harfuch added that they will support the investigations of the state prosecutor’s office to clarify the murder.

“We have been in permanent contact with the governor, we are supporting the required investigations and we are going to continue working to clarify this case and arrest those responsible,” he said.
