CDMX, Mexico- The Cuban artist and activist Daniel Triana Rubio denounced in their social networks the harassment of State Security towards him in the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema. Triana also stressed that the event was “guarded” by repressors.
In a Facebook post, Daniel narrated his experience last night during the closing gala of the 43rd edition of the event.
“I arrived after the event had started and as soon as I entered the cinema, a political police operation was activated. Agent “Adrián” (who regularly harasses me) sat right next to me, and in front of me was my former assigned agent “Samuel” (who used to harass me). How cute is polyamory. That was mined, full of agents everywhere, ”he wrote.
Triana who has been systematically harassed by the Cuban authorities Due to his critical positions against the government and in defense of human rights, he is an actor by training. So the authorities probably had it in advance in the sights of people to watch closely during the most important space of the cinema on the island.
In his testimony, he tells how he was even photographed with the repressor who harassed him sitting next to him in a seat at the festival. “Almost all the winners in Brazil spoke of the disastrous government of ex-president Bolsonaro: ‘Bolsonaro never again!’ they shouted. “It just so happens that a man who was photographing me with “Adrián”, when the flash on his cell phone was already too obvious and annoying, I made him look at the camera with the L (who knows if it was for Lula or Libertad) and immediately my The surveillance and harassment committee got nervous and they sent another agent to take said man away,” added the artist.
The artivist commented that despite the harassment I can enjoy the political speeches of the winners at the festival and their freedom to denounce what they perceive to be wrong in their countries of origin.

Not satisfied with having sat next to him, and having photographed him without his authorization, when leaving the cinema one of the agents dared to speak to him.

Daniel Triana highlighted that all the agents of the political police had festival credentials, to enter and monitor the spaces.
Just a few days ago, the opening of the festival made headlines on the statements by actress Andrea Doimeadiós.
The young woman, who was in charge of conducting the opening gala, ironized several issues that involved the senior leaders present at the event.
“I am the only young Cuban actress who wants to be in Cuba,” said Doimeadiós, who also criticized the low salaries of the actors.
