The former Minister of Education, Harald Beyer, referred to the plan of the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, regarding a cancellation of the Credit with State Guarantee (CAE).
In conversation with radio PatternBeyer stated that “the social profitability of investing in higher education graduates is very low. Even I would dare to say that it is close to zero.”
“There are areas, such as preschool education, where the social return is gigantic, especially if one does it in coordination with other initiatives that allow these children, who today live in conditions of great vulnerability, to have a better time and, in some way, , give them more educational opportunities, but also reduce the risk of them engaging in risky behaviors,” he added.
Along the same lines, regarding the end of CAE, he lamented that “when you think about it, you say ‘how are we thinking’ and how are we trying to gather more resources to finance higher education graduates and we are not seeing where there are priorities “.
“It is a mistake of proportions that the country would commit if it continues in this line”, he sentenced.
