The Islamic resistance movement Hamas and other Palestinian groups reaffirmed their resounding refusal to depose weapons until “the end of the Israeli occupation and the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state”, in an energetic rejection of the agreement promoted by the UN that demands its disarmament and its withdrawal of power in Gaza.
The joint statement breaks into an unprecedented famine scenario in the population of the strip, attributed to the Israeli military closures and offensive. It generates uncertainty about the future of any peace process in the region.
“The resistance weapon is intrinsically linked to our national project, which seeks the liberation and return of refugees, as well as an independent state with Jerusalem as capital,” said Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
The groups lashed out at what they classify as a “systematic policy of genocide and famine” while civil suffering intensifies.

Hamas’s reaction is produced after the UN International Conference held in New York, where about twenty states – including France, the United Kingdom, Canada and several Arab countries – urged the Islamist movement to leave weapons and deliver the control of Gaza to the Palestinian authority.
Although the Palestinian militias claimed to appreciate global efforts, they stressed that no negotiation makes sense while the siege and extermination policy on the civilian population continues.
Hamas argues that the solution will only begin with the immediate purpose of “military aggression and deliberate hunger policy.”
The resistance of the Palestinian factions in Gaza underlines that the right to life cannot be subordinated to political interests and that they will only agree to negotiate the liberation of Palestinian prisoners in the frame Israeli
Latest death statistics
During the last 24 hours, at least 91 Palestinians have died and more than 600 were injured in incidents linked to the distribution of humanitarian aid, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
At least 54 people died in a mass shooting near the crossing of Zikim when they were looking for food, tragedy that raises the total number of victims to alarming figures and illustrates the unprecedented humanitarian emergency in the enclave.
Washington inspects
In the midst of the flood of international criticism for the genocide in Gaza, the special envoys of the United States for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff and the ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, will travel this Friday to the Gaza Strip to inspect aid distribution centers and prepare a plan that allows more food to be sent to the population.
The trip occurs when the pressure on the Trump administration increases to force a substantial change in the humanitarian response in Gaza.
In a press conference, the White House spokeswoman, Karoline Leavitt, stressed that after the visit will be informed directly to President Trump, who will decide the final approach to the delivery of help. Witkoff met this Thursday with Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and Egyptian officials to discuss the possibilities of high fire and improve the help on the ground.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian dead number since the beginning of the war in October 2023 exceeds 60 200 and the injured are more than 147,000, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
The UN and international organizations warn that the population is overcrowded, 87 % of the territory under eviction orders and about half a million people face famine conditions – 20 % of children under five years old already suffer acute malnutrition in some areas.
Europe and Canada are unmarked from the United States
Given that panorama, part of the international community increases its pressure on Israel. France, the United Kingdom and Canada have declared their intention to recognize the Palestinian State in September following the example of a dozen European partners.
The president of the European Commission, Úrsula von der Leyen, described the humanitarian catastrophe of “intolerable” and “indefensible”, while Germany, through her Minister of Foreign Affairs, Johann Wadephul, appealed to a “fundamental improvement of the situation” in Gaza.
At European level, the Slovenia government prohibited the trade of weapons with Israel, condemning both the war offensive and the “shameful inaction” of the European Union before the drama in Gaza. Liubliana had already vetoed the entry of two Israeli ministers to their territory, claiming incitement to extreme violence against Palestinian civilians.
The decision of these governments has received an energetic rejection from Israel and the US administration.
President Donald Trump expressed his “disgust and disagreement” with the ads of Emmanuel Macron (France), Keir Starmer (United Kingdom) and Mark Carney (Canada), ensuring that the recognition “reward Hamas” and warning Canada that the measure will make future commercial agreements with Washington.
Trump also hardens the tone and attributes the humanitarian crisis to the obstinacy of Hamas, who points out as the main stumbling block for a fire and the release of hostages still in the hands of the organization.
