Hamas denounces "humanitarian pauses" as cover; Netanyahu promises more war

The Islamic resistance movement Hamas denounced this Sunday that the “humanitarian pauses” announced by Israel are a “cover” to continue their offensive, in the middle of the continuation of the murders of Palestinians by the occupant army.

In a statement attributed to Ali Baraka, a member of the Political Bureau of Hamas, the group described the alleged Israeli truces as “a deception to international public opinion to maintain massacres against helpless civilians,” reported the Spanish agency EFE.

Geography of the Matanzas

Baraka mentioned that despite the declaration of pauses to facilitate humanitarian aid, the Gazatí population continued to report shootings near help distribution points, as in the Humanitarian Foundation for Gaza (GHF), of American origin, and other areas.

One of the denounced incidents occurred next to the border crossing of Zikim, in northern Gaza, where thousands of people expected the arrival of 35 trucks from the World Food Program.

According to the director of the ambulance service in northern Gaza, Fares Aganeh, at least 15 people died and 150 were injured in the incident. The Israeli army denied having evidence of shots in that place.

In the center of Gaza, at the Hospital Al Awda de Nuseira, 13 bodies were counted, including several children, for shootings near a distribution point of the GHF in Bureij.

For its part, the Israeli army announced on Sunday the establishment of tactical pauses in the Gaza coastal strip to allow the passage of humanitarian aid, with delimited schedules to guarantee “safe routes” destined for the UN convoys. However, neither the UN nor the Israeli forces have still clarified the specific routes that will be enabled.

The UN lies, says Netanyahu

Faced with these problems, the Israeli prime minister, Benjamín Netanyahu, assured during a visit to the troops that “the UN is putting excuses and lying on the state of Israel” and that “they are allowed protected convoys, there have always been, but today it is official.”

The president made it clear that Israel will follow the military offensive “until complete victory” and that there will be no more pretexts to interrupt her.

“We will continue to fight, we will continue to act until all our war goals,” said Netanyahu, who also said that the country is making progress in the release of hostages retained by Hamas, and that the “minimum” entry of humanitarian aid will be allowed, “regardless of the chosen path.”

Gaza, the Hunger Colony

The statements of the Israeli ruler, who for his crimes against humanity and war has an arrest warrant for the International Criminal Court (CPI) since November 2024, they have taken place in the midst of international complaints about the desperate humanitarian situation that Gaza is going through, where they have died from the Israeli shrapnel about 60 000 Palestinians since October 2023.

The UN has lamented the spiral of hunger and malnutrition in the enclave, with official figures that report at least 133 deaths for those causes since the beginning of the Israeli offensive, including numerous minors.

International supplies insufficient

As for international support, Qatar recently sent 49 trucks with humanitarian aid to Gaza through Egypt and Jordan, including tons of food and children’s foods, and other countries such as United Arab Emirates and Jordan made additional air releases with humanitarian supplies.

In that scenario, the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) described the aerial launch of inputs as an expensive and insufficient measure, urging to lift the blockade to allow the safe traffic of vital supply.

Although almost 120 trucks with help entered the enclave, the Qatarí Al Jazeera news chain pointed out that the Israeli army has hindered its distribution when instrumentalizing the chaos and looting, which caused scenes described as apocalyptic in which the hungry crowd is thrown desperately on vehicles in search of food.

Western concerns

Given the crisis, voices from Europe have expressed concern. The German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, in conversation with Netanyahu, urged the Israeli prime minister to take “immediate steps to achieve a stop the fire” and facilitate unrestricted access to help.

Merz stressed that “the world is observing” and reiterated the need to protect the civilian population, criticizing the continuity of the blockade and the measures that hinder humanitarian assistance.

For his part, British Foreign Minister David Lammy also said that recent Israeli actions “are late and cannot relieve the desperate needs in Gaza alone,” urging a high fire that allows the entry of help by land without obstacles.

He Handala, A whole symbol

In this context, the ship’s destination Handala It becomes emblematic of the difficulties in breaking the strict blockade that Israel maintains over Gaza, and of the deep humanitarian crisis that the population trapped between the conflict and the famine in the degree of catastrophe.

Handala, Member of the Fleeta de la Libertad and whose name refers to a cartoon character created by the Palestinian cartoonist Naji Al-Ali, sought to break the Israeli blockade with humanitarian aid.

The shipment was kidnapped on Saturday by Israeli commands in international waters, less than 100 kilometers from the coast of Gaza.

The boat, with 21 crew on board, was taken by force. This Sunday, the activists met with lawyers from an Arab-Israeli organization in the port of Ashdodo, where the ship remains held since Saturday morning.
