The PT candidate for the government of the state of São Paulo, Fernando Haddad, said today (13) that he will increase the use of cameras in the uniforms of the military police (PM). According to the candidate, the practice has saved the lives of the population and the police.
“I will enlarge [o emprego das câmeras corporais]. The measure reduced police lethality by more than 80%. The population is dying less. The police are dying less, thank God”, said Haddad during an agenda held in Sorocaba, in the interior of the state.
According to the candidate, expanding the use of cameras will be one of the priorities of his government program, if elected. Haddad also said that he will implement Security Circles in areas with the highest incidence of robberies and thefts, initially in the capital and in the Greater São Paulo region. Circles have a police base in the center; patrolling on foot and with bicycles, in a first perimeter; and motorized, in a second.
