The PT candidate for the government of the state of São Paulo, Fernando Haddad, said today (18) that he will implement a regional hospital in Presidente Prudente (SP) to reduce the local queue for care by the Unified Health System (SUS). The candidate also said that he intends to bring day hospitals to the western region of the state.
“We are going to gather the mayors of the region in January to, in consortium with the state government, establish a new regional hospital here in the region, to relieve the hospitals that are currently overloaded, but, in addition to a regional hospital, I have the idea of bring the day hospitals here”, he told TV Fronteira, in Presidente Prudente.
Haddad also pledged to support family farming, using government purchases to encourage small farmers. “Let’s support food production. This is not in contradiction with large agribusiness as there is enough land for both. I’m going to do something that I did as a minister and as a mayor, which is to encourage government purchases from small farmers, direct purchases. We fed a legion of children just from school lunches”, declared Haddad.
