The Argentine hacker Mauro Eldritch alerted on his Twitter account that a person published on the internet data of 211,604 minors linked to the Institute for Children and Adolescents of Uruguay (INAU). He warned that this is the same person who published information that was leaked from the Salta Police in Argentina.
As stated, the published information includes the name, sex, age, date of birth and status of that number of minors. As a result, the INAU began an investigation in this regard, informed the journalist Gabriel Pereyra and confirmed to The Observer the president of the institute, Pablo Abdala.
Abdala indicated that they found out about what happened through social networks and immediately reported it to the director of the Agency for Electronic Government and Information and Knowledge Society (Agesic), Hebert Paguas, who was already aware of the issue. They are currently developing an investigation to find out the nature of the leak.
There are still no certain conclusions in this regard, but the information collected so far suggests that it was not a hack itself, but rather a leak. “It does not mean that it is not equally serious,” he explained. It could be information that a user had or was somehow stolen from a user.
Although the sample presented is 200,000 children, preliminary information indicates that the number published is lower. “Although that does not mean that they do not have it,” Abdala clarified.
