The company that distributes the Häagen-Dasz brand vanilla ice cream, made in France, has been withdrawn from sales points throughout the country, due to the presence of ethylene oxide in these products.
This was reported by the authorities of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), which was notified by the National Directorate for Food Control and Veterinary Surveillance (DNCAVV), through the Health Alerts Unit, through a statement from the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed Products (RASFF) of the European Union.
According to the report, the origin of the contamination is found in the Madagascar vanilla extract used in its preparation, which has affected the following batches:
Vanilla tub with unit weight 460ml, batches: 4146758, 4156565, 4157457, 4163546, 4169920, 4172653, 4167054, 4222694, 4240220, 4246885, 4284604, 4287990. All of them, with best before dates between May 15, 2020 and 16032.
Vanilla terrine with EAN code 3415581101935best before date between July 6, 2022 and May 21, 2023, unit weight of 460 ml.

The distributor, in coordination with MINSA, as a precautionary measure, withdrew from the market the Häagen-Dasz brand vanilla ice cream manufactured in France.
The Ministry of Health points out that to date the importation into the country of the batches mentioned in the alert has not been identified.
