Brazil won the second championship in the general dispute of the sets (the sum of the scores of the mixed series and of the five arcs) in the Pan-American Championship of Rhythmic Gymnastics that is being disputed in the Arena Carioca 1, in Rio de Janeiro.
This Friday (8), the team formed by Maria Eduarda Arakaki, Deborah Medrado, Nicole Pircio, Gabrielle Moraes da Silva, Giovanna Oliveira and Bárbara Galvão secured the second best score in the mixed series (29,050), behind only Mexico (30,150). ). On the fifth (7th), the Brazilian team won the first position in the five arches.
In the mixed series, the team from Brazil presented a choreography based on the song Smile, by Charles Chaplin. “We studied a lot, it’s a very artistic code and we’ve always had that as a strong point. Our coaches are strong in the arts, so it was amazing. We were able to study, watch Chaplin movies, study his movements. We brought to the choreography as many references as we could”, said Maria Eduarda, the captain of the Brazilian team.
In the all-around, Geovanna Santos da Silva made the fans happy at Arena Carioca 1, winning silver. The athlete, who competed in the Tokyo Olympics, scored 113,750 points, second only to the American Evita Griskenas.
“I am euphoric. Being here at the Pan, representing our country very well, is very gratifying. It is a team that has new girls, who are moving up in the category, there are gymnasts who are experiencing their first big event and we are very happy”, said Geovanna.
Another achievement for Brazil was the two places in the World Cup in Sofia (Bulgaria), which will be played in September. They were secured after the country placed second in the sum of all individual results. Vacancies are not nominal.
