The Ministers of Economy, Martín Guzmán, and of Social Development, Juan Zabaleta, rreaffirmed the government’s objective of “strengthening the popular economy”, during a visit to the National Federation of Argentine Work Cooperatives (Funcat), in the Buenos Aires party of Admiral Brown, where they also defended projects for access to credit for the sector and “popular purchases” by the State.

“We seek to strengthen the construction of a future in which the popular economy plays an important role,” said Guzmán during the tour with Zabaleta and referents of social movementsamong whom were Emilio Pérsico (Evita Movement) and Daniel Menéndez (Somos Barrios de Pie Movement), both also officials of the Ministry of Social Development.

The Minister of Economy he referred to the importance of the State guaranteeing access to credit for the sectorr to “level and generate conditions” of greater equity and defended the legislative proposals promoted by the ruling party to expand the rights of workers in the popular economy.

“Historically in Argentina we have gone through different periods in which interests that were not those of our people were put at the center”, in which “conflicts of interest are often resolved in a very harmful way for millions and millions of people” .

Along these lines, he considered that “you have to look at the past, so that certain things don’t happen again” and stressed: “It is very important to work as a team to be able to build the future” because “after all, we all want the same thing”.

Sometimes we have differences in how to reach those goals, but we always have to remember that the conflict of interest goes elsewhere. Count on us as teammates,” concluded Guzmán.

In the same line, Zabaleta he assured that “all of us in this political force and in this government want the same thing: distribute wealth, strengthen the popular economy and a state that continues to provide more rights and better services, we want a state that includes”.

Guzman and Zabaleta defended projects for access to credit for the sector and for “popular purchases” by the State.

We are a political force that came to transform the lives of Argentines, with more or less tension, but it is with (the president) Alberto (Fernández), it is with (the vice president) Cristina (Fernández de Kirchner), it is with (the head of the Chamber of Deputies) Sergio (Massa), it is with the workers, it is with all of us who are here without any type of doubt”, he emphasized.

Funcat is an organization that seeks to generate collective work to “strengthen the associated cooperatives”, which work together with the municipality of Almirante Brown “to promote the productive and cultural development” of the community, indicated sources from the ministry led by Zabaleta.

In addition, it brings together associations from other municipalities such as Esteban Echevarría, Lomas de Zamora, Avellaneda, Lanús and Florencio Varela and has offices in Córdoba, Mendoza and Santa Fe with cooperatives that work in coordination with Buenos Aires.

The federation also created the “Mario Cafiero” Mutual for Released Persons, Released Persons and Family Members. established under the program “More Work, Less Recidivism”.

There they talked with President of Funcat, Martin Villalba, and with the cooperative representatives and Guzmán referred to the Regime for the Promotion of the Popular Economyin development from a joint work between both ministries.

It is a project that aims to value popular employment through the formalization of workers and access to credit, in addition to deepen the “buy popular” by the State so that “there is a greater valorization of what is produced in the popular economy,” Guzmán explained.

In dialogue with Télam, Persian highlighted the work carried out by both portfolios for the benefit of the popular economy and assured that the social movements have known Guzmán “since before he was minister” and they know that “he always worried about and advised social movements” because he “understands” cooperatives.

He said that, among the demands that were presented to him, was the need for a “change in the production matrix” in Argentina.

“That is something that the popular economy has already done in fact, but we need the State to look at us and recognize that work,” Pérsico reflected.
The same way, Menendez expressed: “We appreciate what the minister did today, we appreciate that he gets to know the problem of excluded workers” and advocated advancing the “unexpected rent” project.
