The ministers of Economy, Martin Guzman; and Productive Development, Matias Kulfas; and the president of the Central Bank (BCRA), Miguel Pesce, will receive this Tuesday the business leaders of the food sector and the producers of basic necessities, in search of a new price agreement for a path of inflationary containment in 2022.
The meeting will be held at noon at the Palacio de Hacienda, according to official sources reported this Monday.
The Government ordered during October, when inflation reached 3.5%, the price freezing of more than 1,300 products until January 8, and the official idea is to go towards an “administration” of these values, in agreement with the businessmen.
Guzmán himself highlighted the need to reach a new agreement “that lowers expectations” on inflation.
For his part, Kulfas – under whose orbit is the Secretary of Internal Trade, Roberto Feletti– He said in dialogue with Télam that they are working with the Ministry of Economy and Agriculture “so that in 2022 we have an objective of reducing those levels with a monetary and fiscal macroeconomic plan that provides predictability and collaborating with a price agreement.”
Together with the Ministry of Agriculture, it will be sought “that the provision of food raw materials allow ensure a reasonable and more stable gondola price“.
“In this framework, they seek to generate protected baskets,” he added, “with Care Prices that we want to be much more present throughout the country to take care of household income.”
Regarding the analysis of the value chains, Kulfas said that they are working within the framework of the Ministry of Internal Commerce to “analyze all the productive chains, analyze the profitability scenarios that are very heterogeneous and without patterns common to the entire food industry” .
