The state company Guyana Power and Light Incorporated (GPL) signed a agreement for 15.6 million dollars with the group InterEnergy Groupbased in the Dominican Republic, with the aim of modernizing its national electrical system.
The contract with a duration of two yearsseeks to accelerate the modernization of the electrical infrastructure of Guyanaimprove system reliability and move towards a smart grid (smart grid), it was reported this Friday in a press document.
He contract formalizes the commitments established in the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2024which laid the foundations for the technical cooperationthe transfer of knowledge and the planning of strategic energy projects.
According to the document, InterEnergy Holdings will take care of the management and supervision of the main electrical infrastructure projects, guaranteeing technical compliance, execution within established deadlines and integration of smart technologies.
Responsibilities include technical audits, advice in maintenance and operation of generation plants, as well as the preparation of a master plan for the expansion of the smart gridwith the aim of achieving its full implementation before 2030.
