Last Sunday, June 19, the electoral elections were held in the country, and after a historic day of voting, the Colombians decided that Gustavo Petro would become the next president of the nation.
However, since his electoral campaign, much has been speculated about his biography, and false information circulated through social networks about his career as a politician and member of the M-19. However, there is a curious fact about the elected president, which very few know and it is that the former mayor of Bogotá has dual nationality.

And it is that one of the data that generated controversy between followers and detractors of the also senator was his place of birth, since the also senator Jorge Enrique Robledo in a series of trills through social networks, stated that Petro had been born in Zipaquirá and not in Ciénaga de Oroas I had mentioned.
However, later Petro himself was in charge of clarifying that if he was born in this Cordovan municipality but its registration was made in Cundinamarca due to diligence and paperwork. Although he does admit that his identity card says Zipaquirá.
Now, once this clarification was made, it is also known that Gustavo Petro has Italian nationality. This was confirmed by the president himself in 2018 in statements for different media and that for this reason you do not need a visa to visit the European country. It was precisely in Italy where Petro was infected with covid-19 and was in quarantine.
“I am also an Italian citizen. At the time of my complaints they gave me a 17-year visaI have no problem with that, ”Petro said at the time in a statement during that year.
