
He Colombian President Gustavo Petroresponded this Wednesday to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado that The transition in Venezuela must be done without exclusion of political and social sectorsin response to her criticism of him for requesting that The United States returns Nicolás Maduro to be tried in that country.
“I am sure that Venezuela must begin a transition to more democracy and peace and that is done through a pact of all political and social sectors without excluding any”expressed Peter in X, adding that Any exclusion, like the one done with Corina, is harmful and generates hatred and violence.
The president added that “it is best not to exclude” and stated that with their position they teach “a universal principle: sovereignty, which includes justice.”.
Machadoafter meeting with the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubiostated that “It drew a lot of attention” that Petro has requested that The United States returns Maduro to be tried in Venezuela.
The opposition leader stressed that under Chavismo “There has not been a single ruling against the regime in favor of an individual” and questioned whether Petro is aware that any judge who issues a ruling contrary to the regime may end up persecutedin reference to previous court cases in Venezuela.
