This Tuesday, May 10, the lawyer Gustavo Gutiérrez Ticse reached/exceeded the 87 votes required to be appointed as a magistrate of the Constitutional Court. His appointment was opposed by 23 parliamentarians, while 5 abstained.
Gutiérrez Ticse was questioned for having been a lawyer for former presidential candidate Rafael López Aliaga during the last electoral process.
It is not the only observation against the now tribune. In December 2021, the technical team of the TC commission recommended excluding him from the contest for not having recorded the multiple traffic offenses in his file. However, he was not removed from the process by decision of José Balcazar (Free Peru), Luis Aragón (Popular Action), Hernando Guerra (Popular Force) and Adriana Tudela (Avanza País).
It would be advised for the second time that he conclude his candidacy due to the Comptroller’s report, which reported that a Gustavo Gutiérrez company had a coercive debt with Sunat. Again the suggestion was unsuccessful.
The other 5 new tribunes are:
- Francisco Morales Saravia, replacing Ernesto Blume
- Helder Domínguez Haro, replacing Marianella Ledesma
- Luz Pacheco Zerga, replacing Manuel Miranda
- Manuel Monteagudo Valdez, replacing Carlos Ramos
- César Ochoa Cardich, replacing José Luis Sardón de Taboada.
