Santo Domingo. – Guillermo Moreno assured that the fact that in the meeting between the National Social Security Council (CNSS), the Medical Association (CMD) and the specialized societies, an agreement has not been reached, is bad news for the population, and that as a consequence today the strike against the Health Risk Administrators (ARS) is taking place.
“Beyond the fairness of the Medical College’s claim, the reality is that the injured party, the great victim of this confrontation, is the Dominican people, especially the poor, very poor population, who, in addition to the permanent insufficiencies they suffer from the precarious health system, due to the cost of medicines and laboratories, now they are also unable to use their health insurance, which means that they must give up going to a consultation because they cannot pay for it much, ”lamented the president of Alianza País .
Moreno also condemned the passivity with which the government headed by President Luis Abinader has handled the health crisis, which has been deepening, moreover, due to the lack of medicines, low salaries of medical and auxiliary personnel, as well as the presence of several developing epidemic outbreaks such as dengue, cholera, influenza and COVID.
The political leader of AlPaís stated that the government and the health authorities “cannot play dumb or deaf or decline their responsibilities in the face of the crisis in the health system.”
In this sense, he demanded a clear position from the authorities to find a solution, since it is the Constitution of the Republic itself that directly and expressly imposes on the government the obligation to guarantee Dominicans the right to health. and social security.
