The National Assembly had stipulated 12 weeks for those over 18 years of age and 18 weeks for women who are minors and from rural areas.
It also stipulates that there requirements to access an abortion for rapesince the National Assembly does not establish them.
In April 2021, the Constitutional Court decriminalized abortion in rape cases. The resolution was approved by the full Court with seven votes in favor and the reservations of two magistrates, in an opinion that declared two clauses of the Comprehensive Penal Code (COIP) unconstitutional and opened the possibility of voluntary interruption of pregnancy in those cases. where a violation is found.
