Caram stated that there is no possibility of manipulating the economic figures disclosed by the state agency that correctly handles these matters.

“So I endorse the confidence in the figures of the Central Bank and in the policies that it is adopting for the management of the economy in what concerns it”, he emphasized.

The former official and reformist leader considered that there are things that are required of him and overload the state bank over which he has no jurisdiction. “On some very simple ones, for example, on the issue of inflation,” he specified, after adding that the case should not be left alone in the hands of the State entity.

Caram explained that while tourism grows 30%, agriculture only registers 2%, which reflects an imbalance and a very important lag.

He advocated a more dynamic agricultural economy, with the purpose of making it equal to other areas. He indicated that in order to improve economic growth, it is feasible for the economy to be less rent-seeking, less speculative and more job-creating.

He stated that in the most critical moments the Dominican economy has grown, except in the 1960s with the creation of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), where the oil cartel began, the Persian Gulf War and now the Covid pandemic. -19.

“In all cases the Dominican economy has revived, it has responded positively, now is not the exception,” he argued.

He understands that currently the expansion of the pandemic is being controlled, there is no reason to fear that there will be an economic contraction. “The reactivation of the economy has been notorious and this shows you that there is not that link that many had,” said Caram, referring to the fact that companies have always maintained due protocol during the development of the pandemic.

It meant that many people think that the crisis in Ukraine could cause an imbalance, in the face of which he expressed his optimism that there will be no war, but a geopolitical arm wrestling. “Of course, the pulseo is affecting the economies because there is a problem of rising hydrocarbon prices that has aggravated the economic recovery, which has had two different speeds,” he added.

He cited that the inflation that is being experienced nationally and internationally is due to the fact that demand has been reactivated faster than supply. “It is easier to consume more than to offer more because offering more means producing more and producing is a process,” she argued.

He warned the situation in Ukraine is creating volatility in the markets, such as fuel prices. “The effect on fuel prices is already being noticed,” she specified. He indicated that at this time the demand for fuel is greater due to the winter season.

Interviewed in the program Esferas de Poder, which is broadcast on Sundays from 8:00 to 9:00 in the morning, by RNN Channel 27, he highlighted the level of credibility, trust and satisfactory performance of the Central Bank authorities.
