Santo Domingo.– Dominican economist and engineer died Guillermo Caram Herrerawho served as former governor ofThe Central Bank.

The engineer Caram leaves a legacy as an exemplary citizen, who dedicated his life to the service of the country from different areas.

He was an economist, politician and former governor of the Central Bank, former executive director and the past vice president of UNEC, as well as the founder and past vice president of the Christian Social Reform Party (PRSC).

Caram advised the country after the April 1965 revolution and designed mechanisms for the administration of development funds such as the Pre -Inversion Fund and the Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA).

In 1989 he assumed as secretary of Finance status and in 1996 He was appointed Ambassador – Economic Advisor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (today Ministry). Subsequently from 1998 to 2008 he served as an advisor to the Chamber of Deputies, while in 1996 he advised the Senate of the Republic and the Dominican Municipal League.

Caram Herrera He was a professor of the main national universities, namely, planning at the Faculty of Economics at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo; of theory and organization of Dominican planning and economy at the Pontifical Catholic University Mother and Master; of Economic and Dominican Geography at the National University Pedro Henríquez Ureña and of Strategic Research and Planning Methodology at the APEC University. He was also a professor at the Dominican Journalism Institute.

The physical departure of the engineer Caram leaves a significant regret for the professional and political life of the country and in all those who had the honor of knowing and working with him, both in public and private life where he served.
