The Perremeísta leader Guido Gómez Mazara has gone from being a critic of the Government to becoming its main champion, defending “tooth and nail” the administration of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) at the head of national destinies.
With the determination that characterizes him, the president of the Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel) has practically assumed the spokesperson of the administration headed by President Luis Abinader.
In his defense of the ruling party, Gómez Mazara has launched public letters against the economist Andy Dauhajre and the former presidents Leonel Fernández and Danilo Medina, for their attacks on public policies.
In January 2023, when he was competing with Abinader and Ramón Alburquerque for the presidential nomination, Gómez Mazara stated that sectors that coexist in that organization were concerned because after two and a half years of management, campaign promises had not been fulfilled.
“But also, the liberal and progressive branch is dissatisfied with the management, because they feel that social policies do not have a favorable impact on the poor,” said the official in a statement offered to the press on January 10 of the year in question.
In a publication in El Nuevo Diario, dated Saturday, February 8, 2023, the president of Indotel criticized the use of bots, advertising and media strategies of the current Government to “pretend a reality that did not exist” in the country.
At that time, in a letter sent to the senior leadership of the PRM, the then presidential candidate made a critical reflection on some leaders and officials, as well as the course that the economy was taking and the danger of distancing himself from the popular sectors that brought the PRM to power.
In August 2024, after Abinader was re-elected, the Executive Branch, through decree 455-24, appointed Gómez Mazara president of the board of directors of Indotel.

In an article published by Leonel Fernández on October 6 where he stated that the PRM was going “in a tailspin” in the face of the crisis that the country was experiencing, Gómez Mazara immediately responded by highlighting that the Government is working to transform Dominican society.
Through the same means, on the 15th of the current month, the political leader accused the government of Danilo Medina of carrying out a fraudulent tax operation, amid the onslaught of covid-19. With that statement he responded to the PLD president’s criticism of the supposed increase in public debt.
Yesterday in his most recent defense of the Government, Gómez Mazara criticized an article by Dauhajre that stated that budget information was being manipulated. In this regard, the official understands that his criticisms are unfounded.
