The change applies both for those who obtain the document for the first time and for those who need to renew it. This measure marks the closure of a process initiated at the beginning of the year in extreme regions, and represents a historical update after more than two decades without modifications to the system.

According to the authorities, this innovation seeks to deliver a safer document, with tools that facilitate control and improve the relationship of drivers with institutions.

To guarantee an orderly transition, the Ministry of Transportation and Conaset carried out training to municipal officials and emission pilots in the communes of the Metropolitan Region. In total, more than 15 training sessions and 22 visits on the ground were held, which allowed to adjust technical and operational details.
