MIAMI, United States. — The Cuban lawyer and communicator Guennady Rodríguez assured this Wednesday that the Castro regime can subsist with and without sanctions, and that the priority of civil society and citizens inside and outside the Island should be to articulate and not maintain division.
Rodríguez, who manages the platform 23yFlaglerpointed out that although the sanctions imposed by the United States against the Cuban regime have managed to put the dictatorship in check at certain times, they are not the solution to the problem in Cuba.
“Many people question the criticism of the sanctions, but the fact is that the regime has shown that it can exist with and without sanctions. Who the embargo does work for is Castro’s propaganda,” said Rodríguez in statements offered to CubaNet.
The young man, based in Miami, pointed out that the division and constant suspicion among Cubans who oppose the dictatorship have also been used by it to take advantage of the political game.
On the mentions of his figure in the report Agents of influence: Camilo Condis, the showcase entrepreneur —published by this newspaper on November 128— Rodríguez indicated that his positions on the phenomenon of entrepreneurship in Cuba have changed in recent years, although he admitted that he continues against the embargo because he considers that it has not helped Cubans to achieve the freedom.
“You have to be very careful, or the evidence can be very solid or very strong to try to establish a direct relationship between the Havana regime and people who may have an opinion or criteria that may or may not coincide with it,” he said. Rodríguez, who in recent times has denounced the repression in Cuba, especially since the events in San Isidro in November 2020.
