23 students from a boarding school located 8 hours by river in the village of Mocuare in the municipality of San José del Guaviare have symptoms of possible malaria or severe dengue, according to confirmed the Secretary of Health of that department, Marta Cecilia Romero.
The abnormality was detected because the children presented symptoms of fever, convulsion and nosebleed according to the report of the teachers of the institution where the children are. minors, who have already been identified.
The students will be transferred from the boarding school by river, to San José in Guaviare and to Mapiripán in Meta, where they will be boarded at the local IPS, to be treated with each of the EPS to which they are affiliated.
They will arrive directly at the health centers of the public network and private room so they can receive immediate care, the official said.

“They are only suspicions that it could be malaria or dengue because the place where they are is an endemic area for these diseases…”, Secretary Marta Cecilia Romero said.
Also the Secretary of Education of Guaviare, Carlos Granados, said that the medical situation of these 23 minors caused the alerts to be activated given that in a first report the Boarding school teachers confirmed that the minors had very high fevers that reached 39 degrees, with malaise and headaches.
In that rural educational institution there are 60 inmate minors of which for now there are 23 who report this medical situation, the official said.
He confirmed that, of the 23 children, 18 are indigenous from the Jiw community, four settlers, as well as a daughter of one of the teachers who works in the same boarding school.
