Guasu Front: days away from defining if they are part of the Coalition

Guasu Front: days away from defining if they are part of the Coalition

Last Sunday, opposition parties signed a historic agreement to define the presidential ticket through internal elections to be held on December 18. For its part, the Guasu Front will have definitions this week.

The signing of the concertation pact took place at the Casa del Pueblo, headquarters of the Partido Revolucionario Febrerista (PRF) and occurred in coincidence with the commemoration of the signing of the Peace of Chaco, which is remembered every June 12.

However, several opposition actors and protagonists were not present, such as Kattya González, Euclides Acevedo, Esperanza Martínez and José Luis Chilavert. The first alleged that she has differences about the development of the Coalition but affirmed that Fernando Camacho was also present for her party. Acevedo and Chilavert affirmed on more than one occasion that they do not want to be part of the Coalition. While Esperanza Martínez and her party, the Guasu Front, could join this week.

GUASU FRONT
Jorge Querey, national senator for the Guasu Front (FG), reported that during this week there will be definitions on the inclusion or not of the FG in the Coalition of opposition parties.

Yesterday, Monday, precisely the parties that make up the Guasu Front held a meeting of presidents where the issue was addressed. Tomorrow, Wednesday, there will be another meeting of the “Ñemongeta” group (includes the movements that form the Guasu Front with the rest of the progressive parties) where there are high possibilities that a definition will be taken.

“I think that this week will be defined. What happens is that the times play a little differently in terms of groupings, discussing internally. It is a process that occurs internally. It seems that there is a majority that approves joining the Coalition to dispute the presidential elections and an independent presentation for the lists of senators and deputies for the progressive sector”, he stated.

In other words, the Guasu Front wants to contest the presidential elections within the Concertación, but will present a list to Congress on its own (like Ñemongeta and Guasu Front).

“It is very likely that we will join the Coalition,” he said.

KATTYA
Kattya González, national deputy for the National Encounter party (PEN), reported that Fernando Camacho, president of her party, was last Monday signing the agreement of the Coalition of opposition parties.

“We will always seek broad and transparent consensus. There are some drawbacks as we are not seeing that materialize. We want equal competition. Paraguay needs to be reborn and for this we must go beyond what traditional politics gave us until now. The Agreement is given with the citizenship. If we think that we should only define presidential badges, we are wrong, ”she said in an interview with radio 1000 AM.

We tried to contact Euclides Acevedo but he did not respond to our calls.
