“We are incredibly happy for him. Congratulations to him, also to Nico Otamendi (former Manchester City player) and, of course and personally, by Leo Messi. Also for Argentina as a country, he has deserved to be the champion,” he said.
About Messi, who won two Champions Leagues under Guardiola at Barça, the Catalan coach said that for him he is “the best”.
“It is difficult to understand how a player can play and do what he has done in the last 10 or 15 years”stressed the coach.
“People who saw Pelé, or (Alfredo) Di Stéfano, or (Diego) Maradona, can say which are their favorites. In those opinions there can be a sentimental focus. If he (Messi) had not won the World Cup, my opinion about what he has done for world football would not be different, but it is normal that for people it could depend on whether he won.”estimated.
Messi signed seven goals in Qatar 2022 and the ‘Spider’ Álvarez, one of the revelations of the tournament, signed four goals.
