Guaraní triumphs against Rojo de Mallorquín and adds its first points

For the second date of the Closing Tournament, Nacional and Resistencia tied 1-1 this Thursday, so they could not join the top of the championship. The sky blue cast played with 10 men throughout the second half in Defensores del Chaco.

Both casts were going for a victory that would allow them to reach Cerro Porteño at the top of the contest. However, there were no winners in Saxony today afternoon.

Nacional was better in the first half and transferred the process to the scoreboard: at 22 minutes, the young Francisco Javier Morel scored his second goal in the First Division and put the Tricolor ahead 1-0.

In additional time of the initial stage, at 45 + 1 ‘, everything seemed to be complicated for the Chacarita cast by staying with 10 players due to the expulsion with a direct red card of Fernando Escobar, through the intervention of the VAR.

However, in the second period it was those led by Roberto ‘Tiburón’ Torres who put the opponent to the test.

Alexis Rojas, entered for the start of the supplementary, appeared in the rival area and scored the 1-1 in the 53rd minute of play.

Despite being one man down, Resistencia constantly pressed on attack against a confused Nacional.

And in that context, came the great possibility of going ahead on the scoreboard for Celeste. A new VAR intervention awarded a penalty, which was finished off by Diego Martínez. But the figure of the white goalkeeper Santiago Rojas appeared, who stopped the “Chino’s” shot.

Thus, the 1-1 was maintained until the end, a result that left both protagonists with 4 points, leaving Cerro Porteño as the only leader of the Clausura, with 6 points.
