Seven Cover cars were deranged; Four of them were completely separated from the rest of the train.
Miami, United States. -At least three people were injured on Wednesday due to the derailment of the Guantanamo-Habana train in a section close to the Las Cuevas de Bellamar road, in the city of Matanzas.
The incident occurred around 2:30 pm and affected approximately 200 meters from the railway line, according to the state newspaper Girón Through your Facebook page.
According to the preliminary information, seven CVEOs of the convoy were deranged; Four of them were completely separated from the rest of the train. Rafael Roldán Simón, member of the crew with 33 years of experience, said that “the machinist noticed the poor condition of the line and applied emergency, according to the procedures to be followed in these cases.” He also stressed that, “luckily, the cars did not turn over, which avoided greater injured.”
Among the injured are a passenger and two ferromozas. Two of those affected presented minor blows and one of the workers suffered a decompensation of blood pressure.
At 3:43 pm, the Faustino Pérez Provincial Hospital had received three patients with minor injuries, as confirmed to Girón Gretel Robaina Rodríguez, Deputy Director of Medical Assistance. “At the moment the life of any of the injured and these evolve positively,” he said. The arrival of two other injured people in similar conditions is also expected.
The Medical Center activated an emergency team with about twenty workers, between specialists and nurses, to serve the victims of the accident.
So far, official details have been offered about the technical causes of derailment or has been reported if an investigation will open to clarify what happened. The state media note concludes pointing out that it is a development news.
