In an event that brought together more than 600 workers from the Multiple Services Corporation of the Mayor’s Office of the Vargas municipality, in the state of La Guaira, the election assembly of the main and alternate delegates who will represent the sector in the National Constituent Congress of the Working Class was held, scheduled for December 14, 15 and 16.
The Minister for Labor, Eduardo Piñate, led the activity together with Mayor José Manuel Suárez, highlighting that these assemblies are part of a national process aimed at the profound renewal of the labor movement and the discussion of the four fundamental axes that will mark the constituent agenda: union organization, leadership, productive impulse for the strategic substitution of imports and participation of workers in the comprehensive defense of the country.
Piñate emphasized that the meeting reflects “a living expression of participation and democracy,” and explained that the spokespersons elected in this municipal phase will later participate in parish and state assemblies, from which the final representatives will emerge to the national congress. “This process prepares the working class to take a leap in building the productive and diversified economic model that the country demands,” he noted.
For his part, Mayor Suárez highlighted the massive worker participation and affirmed that these elections dismantle the international campaigns that ensure that Venezuela does not live in democracy. “Here are the working people voting in thousands of assemblies throughout the country. This is a forceful demonstration of participatory and leading democracy promoted by President Nicolás Maduro,” he stated.
The regional director of Labor, Bartolo Hernández, reported that in this assembly six spokespersons were elected; three main and three substitutes. He also indicated that the process is replicated in all the productive engines of the state of La Guaira, including the construction, food, services and transportation sectors.
Hernández highlighted that the Constituent Congress of the Working Class seeks to strengthen the first axis of the Seven Transformations, defined as the productive impulse. “It is about renewing the labor leadership and organizing the workers to advance strongly in the country’s economic agenda,” he noted.
With these assemblies, the authorities highlighted that the region is making progress in choosing its representatives for the national debate that will bring together delegates from all regions and productive sectors of the country.
