Juan Guaidó referred to the situation of immigrants, the number of refugees that Colombia has maintained and the approximate two million Colombians in Venezuela. He asserted that the nation is in resistance. He denied the theory that his targets have vanished. He said that politics has ups and downs but the fight continues
The president of the National Assembly (AN) elected in 2015, Juan Guaidó, called on the government of Gustavo Petro to put human rights above economic interests, in his approach to Nicolás Maduro. The parliamentarian referred to the resumption of diplomatic relations between both nations and on aspects, such as violence, that should not be relativized.
In an interview to Radius Snail This Thursday, September 1, he referred to the political and Human Rights situation of the nation. He denounced that they have continued to violate each other and that this is an important part of the conflict. He asserted that “a free and fair election must be achieved, for which we are fighting, and they owe us.”

“This (bilateral relations) must be seen for the benefit of the brother countries, but also understanding the origin of this tragedy. President Petro spoke of Human Rights in his campaign, and they must be protected,” Guaidó said.
On the other hand, Guaidó referred to the situation of immigrants, the number of refugees that Colombia has maintained and the approximate two million Colombians in Venezuela.
“Attention to immigrants should be sought, everything that can be done in favor of immigrants that allows Venezuelans and Colombians to be favored,” said the opponent.
He urged that Colombia-Venezuela relations seek to attend to the border flow. On this he recalled that until about six years ago it was balanced in figures close to 6 billion dollars, but that from a few years to now it has not even reached 100 million, which has deepened the Venezuelan economic crisis.
Regarding the protocol acts and the meetings held by the Colombian ambassador in Venezuela, Armando Benedetti, Guaidó stated that “the approach to a dictatorship is not only from the economy, but from the defense of the dignity of the human being.”
He asserted that to restore trade relations between Colombia and Venezuela it is not enough to shake hands and take photos, but to focus on working to restore democracy in Venezuela.
When asked if he considered that the bet on him (support he gave) made by former President Iván Duque failed because the possibility of change “vanished” or he feels betrayed by the US, which has shown a slight rapprochement with the government of Maduro assured that the country is in a moment of resistance, and of “very high risk, and we see it when Venezuelans cross the Darién Jungle, or risk their lives against the dictatorship.”
He recalled that the US has made it clear that the dialogue goes through the possibility of an agreement in Mexico.
