CAMCEL is committed to services and technology
The current Board of Directors of the Cerro Largo Medical Cooperative, which in December completed its first year of management at the head of the institution, closed a very rich year in 2025 in the incorporation of services and technology for its users in particular and for the health of the department in general.
Another objective has been the care, education and training of the thousand workers who, in the different areas, medical and non-medical, provide their service daily.
“It was one of the great worries we had when we began the administration, which has just turned one year old. I am convinced that an institution like CAMCEL in the department is much more than a Sanatorium, which is much more than a place where one goes to get help, because it is a place where 1,000 people also work and in some way also support 1,000 families. It is a place that also has to play a role in society because it is a service company.” expressed the Dr. Felipe Ricagni.
“Internally, for civil servants it is the place where one wants them to develop as people and also within their functional career, both Medical and non-Medical” remarked the President of CAMCEL.
“Responsibility in that human part is very important for us” he synthesized. “An official who feels valued, who works in a pleasant and respectful environment, will undoubtedly transmit this to the user” manifested to THE DIARY PROFESSIONAL.
He argued that this change of “organizational culture” It takes time and has to be long-lasting. “The idea is that this has to be a conviction of all of us who are in management and that it lasts, that it transcends those who are in charge today and those who are in charge tomorrow because we are convinced that we have values within the institution that we want to care for and enhance.” he remarked.
ACHIEVEMENTS OF 2025
“In 2024 when we started, we identified in each area what technological lag there was because technology advances brutally, but in Medicine it advances much faster” expressed Dr. Ricagni. “They are expensive equipment” he added.
“A Strategic Plan was developed to define where to go each year. We had to bet on technological change and determine what things we could do here because we have Technicians” he assured.
CAMCEL has to be a tool for Doctors and Technicians to enhance their skills, which will end up having a favorable impact on users.
“In the radiology part, a lot of progress was made. We had already changed the CT scanner, at the beginning of 2025 we bought state-of-the-art digital equipment, we bought a C-arm, a state-of-the-art Ultrasound Machine was purchased, especially targeting obstetrics because we have a Neonatal CTI” he stressed.
“Later, the entire ophthalmological part was developed, taking into account a complaint from users where many studies had to be done outside the department, in Treinta y Tres, for example. We set up a separate Polyclinic with all the paraclinics” highlighted Dr. Felipe Ricagni, President of the CAMCEL Board of Directors.
