Groundbreaking to begin construction at Rod Carew Stadium

On the occasion of better facilities to receive the World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, in September, the National Government delivered this Tuesday the order to proceed for the improvements to the Rod Carew stadium.

The work, with a value of 6,966,311.00 balboas, will have as the company in charge the Promotion and Distribution of Five Variable Capital Stock Companies, and the first phase must be delivered before September, when the Qualifying Round of the said Classic is received.

In its entirety, the project should be completed by the end of October 2022.

The improvements will include the lifting of the entire playing field (conformation, leveling, improvement and compaction), construction of a new drainage system (excavation, complete geotextile on the entire surface, pipes and inspection camera system), in addition to the supply and installation of a new natural grass, complete irrigation system for the field with a water pump and sprinklers.

As well as the lifting of the existing seats and installation of 10,000 new seats with Major League Baseball (MLB) specifications, remodeling of the transmission cabins, change of all the sound equipment and remodeling of the bedrooms.

Change of HID lights to LED lights on the field of play, change of the exterior facade with modern lighting, remodeling of locker rooms and dugout, batting cages, bathrooms, storage area, public kiosks at level 100 and general cleaning.

Work will also be done on 1,000 square meters of parking lots with asphalt layer, waterproofing of the first ring slab, adaptation of the roof that includes installation of sheets with the same technical specifications as the existing ones, cleaning and special painting of the entire roof.
