Work begins in Rivera Park and remodeling of the Biopark after payment of inherited debt.

The Departmental Mayor, Christian Morel, announced the formal start of works in Rivera Park and the comprehensive reform of the Melo Biopark, after compliance with the first installment of the debt inherited from the previous government.

“We are just a few minutes, a few hours away from 96 days since the government took office, and 12 days after having paid the first installment of the 40 million debt that we had left from the previous government,” stated the communal chief.

Morel explained that the departmental administration has already made the first payment of 3 and a half million pesos, which allowed the supply of bitumen to be enabled and reuse work to begin in the Murguía neighborhood, an area that has reimbursements from the Planning and Budget Office (OPP).

“We have already made the first payment of the first 3 and a half million, and they have already enabled us with the bitumen, and we began to launch our first reuse process in the Murguía neighborhood,” he pointed out.

The mayor also reported that this Wednesday the Works team will move to Rivera Park to begin the interventions that will transform the space.

“We are moving to Rivera Park from the Biopark, tomorrow we will cross with a team of 12 or 13 people to begin what is the modification of Rivera Park, it officially begins tomorrow. We are left with about 14 people in the Biopark,” he explained.

As detailed, 80% of the work will be financed by the OPP and the remaining 20% ​​by the Municipality, reaching a total investment of close to 78 million pesos, of which 65 million come from the National Government and 13 million from the Departmental Government.

“Rivera Park, work is 80% financed with OPP funds, 20% with funds from the Municipality, more or less 65 million provided by the National Government, 13 million by the Departmental Government,” Morel stressed.

At the same time, he announced that the Biopark will remain closed for 24 days to carry out a series of structural modifications financed entirely by the Municipality.

“The Biopark, which is closing, I want to take advantage of the note to tell those of us who are going, so to speak, that I will enjoy it at some point, but it will be closed for 24 days to make the modification, this work will have a cost of 3 million 800, 4 million 100, financing from the Municipality,” express.

The planned improvements include the construction of a meeting and conference room, three permanent sales stands facing the Biopark and the street, and the creation of a new educational farm.

“A meeting room, a conference room, will be built there, 3 permanent stalls will be built there with sales towards the Biopark and towards the street. This farm that we were just talking about is being built there,” accurate.

CAGE CHANGES

Morel also referred to the changes in the animals’ enclosures, highlighting his decision to improve space and well-being conditions.

“The monkey’s cage is going to be changed because I asked for more space for it, it is going to be bigger because I asked for more space for the cage where the Guazunambí is, where there are 4 or 5 parrots. We are going to change the parrot’s cage because I also asked for more space for it. We are modifying the area where there are 3 of the capybaras, we continue with the capybara pair and a loose capybara, as I asked it to remain “I release as many animals as can be released for us better,” said.

Finally, the Mayor mentioned that he is working together with other institutions to resolve the overpopulation of peccaries, animals that are currently overcrowded.

“We know that the peccaries are in conditions that are not the best. There is an overpopulation, they are overcrowded. We ask the Municipality of Tacuarembó, the Ministry of Livestock, the Veterinary Faculty, to castrate most of them and transfer them to another reserve and keep only 4 or 5,” reported.

In closing, the community leader announced that a viewpoint will be built in the Convent area, taking advantage of a particularly attractive panoramic point.

“And at the same time in the Biopark there will be the viewpoint that we are making at the Conventos in a place that we found, the curve of the Conventos, it is the most beautiful place in the Conventos,” Morel concluded.
