Alerta verde en 6 provincias por onda tropical en RD

Santo Domingo.-A tropical wave will cause rain in several Dominican provinces, which is why the Emergency Operations Center placed six provinces on “green alert” on Wednesday.

“Based on this forecast, a green alert was issued for El Seibo, Hato Mayor, La Altagracia, Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez and Duarte,” said the COE.

For its part, the report from the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet), formerly Onamet, indicated that rainfall will also be recorded in La Romana, San Pedro de Macoris, Monte Plata, Monsignor Nouel, San Cristobal, Greater Santo Domingo, Juan Sanchez Ramirez. In addition, Espaillat, Puerto Plata, La Vega, Santiago, San Juan, Azua, Elias Piña, Dajabon and Monte Cristi.

The tropical wave was located east of Puerto Rico on Wednesday afternoon and is expected to continue moving westward in a disorganized manner, although some development is forecast over the next five days.

The Meteorological Service urged the population to remain attentive to its bulletins on the evolution of this tropical wave.

Experts believe this system could become the third tropical depression of the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico hurricane season this year.

Between 17 and 25 named storms are forecast for this season, of which thirteen could reach hurricane status, meaning winds of at least 118 kilometers per hour.
